Following on from the success of last year's Paleontology Museum experience, we have arranged for Explorers to attend another fun and informative session in the Museum's new Learning Labs -
Vulcanology
Educator Tom will get us exploring the earth underneath our feet, with a lesson prepared for our gifted tamariki in approx years 3-8.
Explorers will connect with their local volcanoes, explore different types of volcanic eruptions and participate in a rock sorting challenge.
By the end of the session Explorers will be able to -
· Describe Auckland’s volcanic field and identify volcanoes near to their school
· Make comparisons to different types of volcanic eruptions
· Identify different types of volcanic rock
· Gain an understanding of the preparation and response to a volcanic eruption or natural disaster
