Explorers and S:iiiL Education present a five week introductory course on written code and agents entitled...

'Emergent Algorithmic Art in NetLogo'

We’ll make pretty, interesting, weird and/or psychedelic interactive animations with emergent patterns in NetLogo. This class is an introduction to programming written code and agents, and serves as a perfect progression from Scratch or other drag-and-drop languages.

Recommended for all age groups. Basically anyone with a little bit of programming experience.

Topics
Algorithmic thinking: sequence, iteration and selection
Agent-based programming and the concept of emergence
Randomness and probability
Iterative and explorative design and debugging

About S:iiiL

Synaesthesia: inquisitive, integrated, immersive Learning (or S:iiiL, pronounced like seal) classes are designed to take university level skills and concepts, while leaving behind the testing and risk of failure to make them accessible and interesting to more people. Classes are by appointment and taught online via the S:iiiL Discord server. Visit siiil.org or email joseph@siiil.org if you’d like to organise your own class or tutoring.

About Joe
Joe is S:iiiL's educator and lead curriculum designer, and a teaching fellow at the University of Otago. He is dyslexic (but hopefully you can’t tell) and until tertiary study he was home educated.

Joe holds degrees in writing, psychology, neuroscience, and computer science. He has been working for over six years in research and teaching positions, specialising in creative writing, artificial intelligence and biological modelling.

This event is organised by Auckland Explorers for NZAGC members nationwide.

S:iiiL are kindly offering this course to NZAGC at a significant discount!

The cost is $40 for the full five week course (that's only $8/session)!

Numbers are limited to ensure the session is relaxed, social and highly interactive. Please register today using the attached form.
