POP/COP is a popular Explorers meet up for older kids, running once or twice each term. If you haven't tried before, come and give it a go.

For a first time, we suggest joining in the 'Structured POP' that is suggested for the 9+ age group and there's room for the parents to sit in and join the discussions too.

The three groups running at this session are:
Senior POP (11+), Structured POP (9+) and Construction ie COP (9+)

Senior POP, or Philosophy over Pizza, is aimed at older students (11+) who want to do more than "hang out" on a Saturday evening. These are very free flowing sessions, parents tend to leave the group to it. The group is facilitated by a University student.

We meet together to share pizza and discuss the "BIG ISSUES" but, more importantly, we learn how to discuss any issue. We might discuss : "what do I mean when I say something is real?", "when I say, we know this is true, how can I be sure that it is true?", "does intuition have anything to do with logic?", "what does it mean if I say, this thing is beautiful?"

Structured POP group (recommended minimum age 9) - facilitated by Explorers parents/educators. This is a more structured session and parents are welcome, in fact encouraged to sit in.

COP, or Construction over Pizza is a loosely guided construction activity using one of Explorers' many construction sets. What will it be next? Suitable for age 9+
